About the AI Score
The AI Score is our proprietary evaluation system designed to help players understand how different scratchcards compare. It does not claim to predict outcomes or guarantee results. Instead, it brings together research‑based behavioural insights and publicly available data — including dynamically updating remaining‑prize information — to provide a meaningful, easy‑to‑understand comparison.
The model reflects well‑established player motivations highlighted in industry research, such as:
- Value for money
- The appeal of large top prizes
- The enjoyment of frequent smaller wins
While the underlying ComparetheLotto.com methodology is proprietary, the core principles are grounded in published behavioural research and reliable data sources.
How the Score Works
Each game receives a score from 0 to 100, grouped into the following categories:
| Score Range | Rating |
|---|---|
| 90–100 | Exceptional |
| 80–90 | Excellent |
| 70–80 | Very Good |
| 60–70 | Good |
| 50–60 | OK |
| Under 50 | Avoid |
What the AI Score Considers
Whilst the modelling approach varies depending on the game type and the data available, the AI Score ultimately provides a snapshot of how a game performs incorporating several key dimensions.
Value / RTP (Return to Player %) Indicators
How the game’s average expected return over time compares.
Adjusted Jackpot Value Score (JVS)
A dynamically updating measure of the relative opportunity offered by the top prizes.
Accessibility
The minimum stake and flexibility of play.
Win Frequency / Hit Rate
On average how often wins occurred, based on game odds.
Game Offers
Whether there are offers available through the operator for the games.
Good Cause Contributions
The algorithm gives weight to good cause/charitable contributions.
*For online games, data sources and availability vary.
A Responsible, Informational Tool
The AI Score is designed to support player enjoyment and informed decision‑making. It does not encourage increased play, imply that any game is “smart” financially, or suggest that outcomes can be predicted.
Scratchcards should always be played purely for fun, and players should only ever spend what they can comfortably afford to lose. See our gambling budget calculator here.
